WELCOME TO ALLIED HEALTH PREP ACADEMY

We are elated that you chose to allow us to assist you with navigating through your journey to become a Certified Risk Adjustment Coder. In this course, you will get the opportunity to network with students of diverse professional backgrounds. A wide range of professionals can benefit from the CRC course and use this certification to propel their career to the next level.

Providers and clinicians obtain a detailed understanding of appropriate diagnosis coding to the highest level of specification, how Risk Adjustment coding affect finances and reimbursement, and clear, concise training on clinical documentation best practice techniques.

Many nurses are unfamiliar in the realm of medical coding and how it relates to their daily responsibilities of clinical documentation. Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) nurses are responsible for facilitating the improvement in the quality and completeness of medical record documentation. In this role, nurses are very familiar with coding guidelines, appropriate diagnoses coding and ensuring the clinical documentation provided is properly supported by the diagnosis codes appended to the medical record. Having an alternative to bedside care is always a great option and most CDI positions are remote, from home.

If you were like me, looking to "just figure it out", obtaining your CRC credential will be life changing. Prior to entering the Medical Coding industry, I worked as a College Admissions Counselor, Certified Pharmacy Technician, Patient Care Coordinator and other healthcare support roles; however, with a degree, job experience, and transferable skills, it was still very challenging to secure an annual salary of at least $50K; coding definitely changed that narrative.

Regardless of your professional experience and/ or background, we are here to walk with you throughout this process.

STUDENT SUCCESS STORY

Although I have witnessed many success stories, I have a few favorites.

My Spring 2022 student, Charrae had a professional background in Medical Records management and no prior experience in coding medical charts for reimbursement purposes. After completing the CRC course in June 2022, she scheduled the exam in July 2022, unfortunately she failed by 7 points. Charrae was extremely disappointed, but she was not discouraged from scheduling a retake. The exam retake was scheduled for September 24, 2022, and Charrae received her passing score on September 28, 2022.

The next step was to revise her resume and apply for Risk Adjustment jobs. We set the goal at ten applications a day, which she exceeded. In as little as three weeks, she secured two remote positions making $98K annually.

As a result of her proven methods of success, Charrae is the newest addition to our team, as the Assistant Risk Adjustment Instructor and Employment Coordinator, assisting newly credentialed CRCs with interviewing skills, practical skills and resume revisions.

International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision, Clinical Modification

(ICD-10-CM)

When preparing for the CRC exam, you will use the ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding book, this book will also be used while taking the exam, as there are entirely too many diagnoses codes to know by memory. On October 1st of each year, a new version of updated, revised, added or deleted codes are released. It is always recommended to use the most recent version on your national exams.

During this course, you will learn how healthcare finances and medical coding are directly correlated.
